The Cataract Surgery Process

We moved to northern Virginia from DC ten months ago. We finally switched over to doctors in our neighborhood. Getting to appointments in DC was hard enough when we lived there and we just didn’t want to deal with the traffic anymore. We knew my husband probably would be needing bilateral cataract surgery, and it was shown to be true - even though he doesn’t feel his eyesight is bad. So now we are on the journey of having this surgery done - like so many thousands of others. Two cousins and my sister recently had the same thing. But being in it and hearing about someone else having it are two different things - especially since my husband has never had surgery - except for laser surgery for glaucoma. So every visit, on line website, eyeball measurement, lens options, eye drops, and bills are becoming a big part of our lives and it will go on for several weeks. My husband doesn’t have patience for any of it - especially since he was a surgeon and things just seem so much more complex than they used to be. And they are. Hopefully everything will work out well. Our one disappointment is that the routine visits will be in an office not even a block away but because of this  procedure we need to travel 12 miles out for several appointments. But at least it’s not driving towards DC. I’m looking forward to getting this all over with. And I know he is too.
