52Frames High Noon Photo Challenge

The subject this week was “high noon” for the weekly photo challenge. It was rather a cold and windy week so it started with an image of the tiny stuffed borzoi dog on the windowsill with intense shadows. Then there were a few attempts in the neighborhood park. But I wasn’t impressed. So finally it warmed up and and the winds finally subsided so we took a ride in to town to visit the Constitution Gardens located in between the WWII and Lincoln Memorials. It was such a beautiful day and the images were quite soothing. All the water foul were lined up and the the magnolias were brilliant. The willow tree branches reflections were mesmerizing in the pond below. Then we decided to walk across to the Tidal Basin near the MLK Memorial and head back to the car. The cherry blossoms were just beginning to open. The branches and the ducks made for some lovely photos too. Then we walked past the annual tulip garden where things are beginning to come alive. It always takes a bit of editing to get the final image. This time I used a high key option by adding backlighting or flash to make it look more like high noon. Ultimately we decided the pond image with the birds and Washington monument may not have been the best, but we liked the dreamy image it conjured up. That’s usually how we decide which photo to use - if it is pleasing to the eye and somewhat artistic. In the end it really gets down to what we like - not necessarily what the judges might prefer.
