Basis Charter School

Our grandson attends a local public elementary school in the neighborhood just a block or two from where we live. It is very convenient for my husband when he has babysitting duties to walk over and pick him up. But all good things must come to an end. Finding a middle school and high school on Capitol Hill can be a daunting task. We have been hearing a lot about Basis Charter School lately from his mother. Right off the Archives metro stop, it could potentially be a great place to further his education, and still very close to the neighborhood. The "playground" is the National Mall, it is just up the street from the Archives, the Navy Memorial, and the Portrait Gallery. I don't k know a lot about it, but I'm sure it is competitive. The parents are waiting to hear next week (?) if he gets accepted through a lottery system. His Dad went to Marquette University High School in downtown Milwaukee. Going to school downtown can be both a challenge and a reward. It would be really nice for everyone involved if his name is drawn. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
