52Frames Roll of 24 Photo Challenge

The subject matter for the 52Frames photo challenge was wide open last week. You could take a picture of anything, but you had to limit the number of photos taken to 24 - like in the old days when you could only take 24 shots on the film and have it developed. The outcome was always unexpected and many photos were not very good. Since the Christmas season decor is everywhere we did take a drive for a morning walk in DC. It was a really foggy morning and there were some interesting views around the Capitol building. Of course there was the Capitol Christmas tree. Then we walked over to the US Botanic garden to get a few shots of the trains. The red berries were a great foreground to the Capitol behind them. But the most interesting image was of the super friendly gardener that we met at the Bartholdi fountain gardens. He was planting over 1000 winter pansies in the garden and was so happy to talk about it. His demeanor and our experience made that the number one photo this week. Later in the week we took another morning walk in the city. We parked at the Tidal Basin and walked to the White House Christmas Tree and surrounding area - taking note of our favorite state trees. When we walked in front of the White House the low sun was casting some mysterious shadows from the trees. The place looked empty. The executive office building, Menorah, and Washington Monument were the last stops. Sometimes when the subject matter is so broad it makes it more difficult to figure out what and where to go for a great photo. I’m sure most people will be posting something related to the holiday. I thought I would be different this week.
