Our Mom Eugenia

We rarely go out to eat anymore. We used to go at least twice a week before the pandemic. One of our favorites was McLean Family Restaurant. We were there every Saturday for breakfast followed by grocery shopping. The other time would be for lunch during the week at a variety of places. Once of those was Our Mom Eugenia in Great Falls. We stumbled across it when we drove to get Persian food and noticed it in the strip mall and have been going ever since. Now that we moved from Capitol Hill to northern Virginia it doesn’t take as long to get there. But now we order pickup. We like it so much that we order enough to last three days! We always get a variety of things rather than one or two entrees. We love the bean soup, and the spanakopita, and the chicken skewers with lemon potatoes - and of course the green beans with tomatoes. Then there are the meatballs, and the hand cut French fries and the cod bites with tzatziki sauce. We always make a salad and a piece of bread to round out the gourmet meal. It’s so nice to have a bit of everything. The containers stack high and it is well worth the drive. The photos don’t do it justice. We are never disappointed when we go there. They are obviously doing well because they are opening a third restaurant. Maybe one of these days we will actually dine in - those were the days.
