Flagship Car Wash

It’s been a while since we last had the car washed. Now that we have a parking structure to park in the car rarely gets dirty. Our last car wash was done after we had our car repaired following a rear end collision. The car looked brand new when they were done with it. When we lived on Capitol Hill we had street parking. That was so inconvenient in so many ways and the car was washed a lot more then. This week we went to lunch in NW DC. We parked on the street and stayed for about three hours. When we returned to the car we noticed hundreds of black birds hanging around in the trees above. We hadn’t given much thought about parking under a tree until we got back to the car. It was covered in stains from all of those hundreds of birds that were hanging about. We just hadn’t noticed them before or they just arrived right before we were leaving. It wasn’t the kind of thing that could be easily cleaned. That meant we needed to get to a car wash - and fast! So we drove back home and headed to Flagship Car wash that is right in our neighborhood. I think it used to be named something else. All we needed was the outside washed. We were shocked to see that having the interior done as well would cost $35. The exterior alone was $21. So including the tip for all the hard workers resulted in a $30 plus car wash. The end result was fine, but it was yet another reminder of how the prices of everything has accelerated. Since we haven’t gone out that much over the last three years we need to remember to be vigilant about parking under trees.
