Observations, pictures, and sketches highlight the transition of moving to the nations's Capitol after 30 years of living in the Midwest. A clash in cultures? Maybe not!

The Annual Washington Nationals Ballgame
We grew up on baseball. My brother was a pitcher and was drafted by the Orioles out of high school. So I went to a lot of games. But that was a long time ago. Now, he goes to every Washington Nationals game and we go with him, our sister in law, and my sister once a year. It's kind of become a tradition over the last several years. We usually go later in September, and invariably it is unseasonably cold! Last year we almost froze to death in the cold non stop frigid wind. So we thought a day game might be nice - since September generally is a great weather month. But the heat and humidity of the typical summer decided to rear it's ugly head all week, including for the afternoon game yesterday. It was HOT - in the 90's with high humidity. So much so that we didn't think we would even be able to walk the eight blocks to the stadium. I have turned in to a creature of comfort and when it gets too hot or too cold, we stay side. We are not sports enthusiasts either, so there is very little incentive to endure the discomfort. To make matters worse, there was also a threat of sever weather later in the day, ht we got home just before it let loose. In the end it turned out fine for just the company alone. Sometimes you need to grin and bear it - but only for family and friends!
