US Botanic Garden Vegetables

One of our favorite places to walk through is the US Botanic Garden. We recently stopped in to visit the three stinky plants - or corpse flowers - that were recently on display. The rose garden is beautiful. At Christmas time the trains take over with ever changing displays. The Bartholdi Fountain and garden area is located in a separate space and simply lovely. My husband loves the pomegranate trees. The place just went through a renovation and one of the outcomes of the project was a vegetable garden. It has taken awhile for everything to mature, but this week especially we noticed all the vegetables that we walked passed before without hardly noticing. There were pumpkins, eggplant, black tomatoes, all kinds of peppers, and rhubarb. And of course the flowers were spectacular even as the season wanes. The flowers around the fountain will soon be removed to make way for fall. So if you don't have space at your house for a garden, this is the place sir, contemplate, and take in the scenery.
