Fixing a Crooked Shade

It was driving me crazy! The shade in the dining room has not been straight for a long time. It was hanging to the right. And it was particularly bad in the closed position. I really didn’t want to have to call a shade specialist to fix it, but was about ready to. Our handy man didn’t want to be bothered - or maybe he didn’t know how to? So before I made the call I googled the topic on how to fix a crooked shade. I’m surprised I didn’t think of that sooner because it’s always the first thing I do to research any other issue. After checking three or four different versions of a solution it all came down to one thing - a piece of tape. I don’t think it mattered if it was painter’s tape, electric tape, or masking tape. You just need to stick a piece - or two or three or more - on to the offending upper side corner when the blind is in closed portion. I used electric tape and started with one piece and went up to at least ten. It sounds weird but it actually did the trick. But the many layers of the tape made it too thick to be able to bring the shade up all of the way. So I had to remove several layers. Although it’s not perfect it sure beats the total lopsided look before. The solution seemed so unusual I wouldn’t have believed it would actually work until I saw it for myself. Unbelievable!
