US Botanic Garden

It’s one of my favorite places. The US Botanic Garden on Capitol Hill recently reopened after being closed for over two years. We missed walking through the myriad of plants and arrangements as well as the atrium with the water feature. The garden switches around exhibits as the seasons change but the general layout remains the same. There are very humid areas and very dry desert areas and you can definitely feel the differences while walking through. It’s also a great place to stop in when the temperatures are really hot or very cold. It’s a great respite to just sit and relax and watch all of the people walk by. There are also areas for teaching moments and plenty of visuals from the inside looking out towards the Capitol. This time a lot of the gardeners were planting a while host of new plants. It just so happened the stinky plant was on full display and almost ready to open. I also like to go there for the weekly photo challenge because there is usually something of interest. On the outside are also a variety of flower and vegetable gardens. We used to walk by and through it almost daily when we lived on Capitol Hill. It’s a treasure.
