Library of Congress Data Trafficking Program

It was a great day to go to a program at the Library of Congress this week. It was an exceptionally beautiful day and the program was scheduled for four in the afternoon. We found a great parking space just two blocks away. Last week we went to a program about Tibet at the Jefferson Building with a speaker by the name of Charles Manson from Oxford. This week the program was about data trafficking with a speaker by the name of Aynne Kokas. It’s not the subject of the program that is most important; rather, it’s just the opportunity to resume our pre pandemic activities. And since I worked at the Library for ten years, it is a treat to visit as a retiree and it’s so much more enjoyable. Luckily the subject matter is usually of some interest. I much prefer the question and answer format to the formal presentation where the speakers read their material. Only if it is mixed with a lot of interesting visuals is it tolerable. But being in a room of the beautiful Jefferson building is really lovely. The interchange was great between the host and the guest - it was very dynamic. Aynne Kokas teaches at the University of Virginia and we told her at the end of the program that our grandson goes there. She mentioned that he should sign up for her class. I’m not sure when the next program will be but we always look forward to going. It’s nice to still live close enough to enjoy the things we used to when we lived on Capitol Hill.
