Library of Congress Karma Pakshi Program

We love to visit the Library of Congress. I worked there for ten years and retired a few years ago. But since the pandemic we hadn’t been able to visit the library - until last year. We always loved going to listen to the various programs. And we prefer the afternoon times so as to avoid traffic coming and going. It’s hard to find parking since we no longer have our resident permits and handy condo that was two blocks away. The presentations themselves were usually good, but we enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time walking about the great hall and visiting the other exhibits. Now you need to have a timed pass to get in to visit, which is a pain in the neck. But if you are going to see a program that’s a good enough reason to get admitted. There haven’t been any in-house programs in the afternoon for the last few months until one popped up a couple of weeks ago. So we thought it was a great time to check it out. The subject matter was about Karma Pakshi and Two Mongol Emperors presented by Charles Manson. It was about reincarnation and Tibet. So we left a little earlier and found a parking spot close by. That allowed some time for me to try and take some photos for my weekly challenge - but most of the photos weren’t very good! The Great Hall is never a boring experience. It’s simply beautiful and it was so pleasant because there were so few visitors. It’s a great time to visit in January. Then we walked over to the meeting room in the lovely Jefferson Building. There were several attendees and the presentation was also on zoom and being recorded. I just wish we didn’t have a two hour parking limit because we didn’t get to spend as much time there as we would have liked. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and we are looking forward to another program next week. It’s one of the few things we are still able to do. Thank goodness for that.
