Inauguration Prep Underway

Well, it’s already started. Every four years the construction begins for the presidential inauguration stand on the west side of the Capitol building. We went in to town for a morning walk in search of some photos for my weekly challenge. We parked by the American Indian Museum and walked up the hill to the east side of the Capitol. On our way back around toward the National Gallery of Art we noticed a lot of familiar fencing that was put in to place. There was not only the construction fencing, but also the black metal fence that unfortunately has been used much too often. It’s the kind that is a lot taller and the base is wide so it can’t be easily dislodged. It is remarkable that this construction is done and then taken down. It requires a lot of work and work people to get it just right to support all of the inauguration attendees on the platform. We attended three inaugurations when we lived on Capitol Hill. I don’t think we would make the trek in to town for any more. I’m glad we went when we did.
