If Then She Can Exhibit on the National Mall

Apparently the exhibit started a year or two ago. If Then She Can came in to town in March and will remain until the end of the month. It’s a celebration of women and STEM. We drove in to town for a morning walk with the purpose of exploring the 3D printed sculptures of women from various backgrounds all having to do with science, technology, engineering and math. The first grouping we saw was outside of the arts and industries building. They stood out because of the orange color and they are “true to size.” There are descriptions of each participant along with a QR code that you can scan and learn more about each individual. There were also more sculptures located right outside of the Smithsonian castle and then inside as well. We didn’t have a chance to see them in the Natural History Museum and they were also supposed to be at the Air and Space Museum. It was a glorious day for a walk not only to see this exhibit, but also to witness the wonderful spring season as the magnolias were budding and some of the cherry blossoms were blooming. We are glad we still have an opportunity to enjoy the city since we moved to northern Virginia. It’s a lot easier to visit than live there!
