Capitol Fireworks and Neighborhood Gardens

After the torrential rains last night (that ruined the dress rehearsal for the concert at the Capitol) and increased the humidity today to over 100%, we decided to meander through the neighborhood for a short walk, rather than face the crowds on the Mall this afternoon. One can't help but notice the beautiful gardens- every one is unique. It is obvious who cares for their front yard, and who doesn't - as in all neighborhoods. Obviously they come in all shapes and sizes - very precise and structured to carefree, newly made to longstanding, colorful to plain. These are some of the ones that caught my eye. Of course, I like mine the best, but it is in the backyard. If the weather cooperates, we may risk going to the fireworks this evening at the Capitol. But I'm beginning to have my doubts. You could say the natural beauty of the gardens has taken the place of the sparkle of the man made fireworks. When we lived in Milwaukee, we could watch the fireworks from our back yard. We were kind of spoiled. But not everyone has the Capitol Building in their back yard. We just need to walk a couple of blocks to get there.

Very mature and traditional

Just imagine yourself on the porch with a lemonade and a pooch

Every one on the block is in perfect order

More wild, but inviting

The sculpture is precious- a man on a bench with a bird

Just completed about 6 months ago

New, very precise & eye catching

Watch where you step
when you get out of the street car parking space
