The Capitol Building in Summer

The Capitol building is one of the most handsome landmarks not only in the city, but the country, and the world. We've had an opportunity to take a couple tours through it, and witnessed some events in front of it - the Gerald Ford and Edward Kennedy funerals, and the Obama inauguration to name a few. We were also able to see the new Capitol Visitor Center as it was being built on two occasions, and saw the George Washington dedication cornerstone was seen along the way. One can only imagine all the action that has taken place there. Bread was baked in the basement during the Civil War. It is remarkable at any time of the year, and each season shows a different perspective. And it's only two blocks away.
