U Street Corridor

After walking and having lunch at Hawk and Dove in the neighborhood, we thought a ride to the Room and Board furniture shop might be in order. It is located on U Street in NW DC. The streets were jammed, as is typical for any workday, but much more on a Friday. Along the way, we saw many large groups of kids visiting the Mall and Museums. When we reached our destination, we parked a few blocks away and walked to the store. Not finding anything we liked - because we don't really know what we're looking for - we decided to walk a few blocks out of our way and check our the neighborhood. It is obviously undergoing mass enhancements as every street and corner had major construction underway. So we took a different path home down along the U Street Corridor, past the history of a once thriving post Civil War community, and still very vibrant today. As nice as it is, or will become, I still like where we live. Sometimes it's good to check out the other neighborhoods in the city. You either learn to appreciate what you have or decide to make a move. We're not quite sure where we stand on that yet.
