Gardens Across America at the US Botanic Gardens

I’m not sure I have ever enjoyed it more. The US Botanic Garden has always been a favorite of mine. When we lived on Capitol Hill we walked through the gardens almost every day on our morning walk. Oftentimes we stepped inside to see the special exhibits - the holiday trains, the stinky plant, and the orchid shows. Since we moved to Virginia two months ago we decided going in to town was a great idea in between rush hour traffic. And so it was today when we drove in to DC to see the Gardens Across America exhibit.  It was a gorgeous, no humidity day - perfect for a walk in the old neighborhood. We parked in front of our old house, then trekked by the Library and Capitol. It’s funny how it feels like we are just visitors now - even though we lived on Capitol Hill for almost thirteen years. So we made our way around the displays - from Charleston to Sheboygan - two places we’ve actually visited. We plan to check out the gardens at least seasonally if not more often, in between going to programs at the Library and dreading the dentist and doctor appointments (until we figure out when to switch that up.) It is true that when you see something every day you probably don’t appreciate it. Luckily for us we still have the opportunity to visit the places we loved in our old neighborhood. Somehow everything just looks so much better now.
