52Frames Street Photography Photo Challenge

It was a great day to take street photography photos at the US Capitol building last week. That was the subject of the weekly photo challenge. We parked on the National mall by the Smithsonian American Indian Museum and walked up the hill to the east side. Along the way we saw a lot of large school groups - looking quite bored while the instructor/guide shared interesting tidbits about the history surrounding them. Once we made it to the front there was a particular female student putting on a fashion show with a personal photographer capturing every move. We wanted to ask for her photo, but decided to get her in the moment. She certainly caught the attention of everyone nearby. A pair of huge dogs walked through - I don’t remember when I last saw a Newfoundland pooch. Then we crossed over to the Supreme Court where there were American Indians protesting. I took several photos there but I typically don’t upload politically motivated images - but several were quite captivating. We finished our walk and took a ride around some of the same streets we had just meandered through. We passed by slowly and saw the same Indian protestors sitting along the wall in front of the Capitol. Then further down there was a group of boys and girls being bored by the same instructor/guide - but they all smiled and waved when they saw I was taking their photo. Then we drove past our old neighborhood on Capitol Hill and found a running pair passing through the crosswalk. As we drove down Pennsylvania Avenue a couple with a baby buggy passed in front of us with the Capitol in the background. None of the photos this week were really outstanding - and we ended up picking the wanna be model because it looked very unposed and interesting. May be next week will be more inspiring.
