Big Birthday and Edvest College Fund

It is hard to believe. When we moved to Capitol Hill fifteen years ago from the Midwest our grandson was three years old. They lived five rowhouses away from our condo and we got to spend a lot of time with him until the family moved to central Virginia five years ago. It’s a four hour drive so we could still visit and stay in touch. Yesterday our grandson turned eighteen years old. What a milestone! When he was born we opened an Edvest college savings account for him. For every birthday, Christmas, and his parent’s birthdays, we contributed to it. Although it’s not a huge amount the time has now come to figure out the best way to manage the account as we still want to continue to contribute to it. College actually starts next month! He is in the UVA scholars program with an intended math major. He’s currently working in upper New York doing river rides. He’s also a very well rounded type of person - athletics to cooking - and he’s nice to boot. We are really proud of his accomplishments and have a feeling he will do well. All we care about is that he is happy regardless of his degree. But we are so happy to be able to support him in this way. Congratulations and happy birthday!
