Dyson Air Purifier on High all of the Time

We’ve had our Dyson humidifier/air purifier for a little over a year. It’s not an easy machine to like. We have had it in the shop once because the humidifier stopped working. So they exchanged a major part at no charge. I’m just glad we have a Dyson repair in the neighborhood. For whatever reason the machine was constantly running on high - which can be disturbing if you want to have a quiet house. So I cleaned up the filters again and it started to behave. Shortly thereafter, the machine not only would remain on a very noisy high, but it was reporting really high levels of bad air. This was something new. Rather than communicate with the Dyson people I just googled the problem and found an article. I kept my fingers crossed that it would work. Apparently there are sensors on the outside of the machine that can get clogged. You need to brush off the air vents that house the main filter on the outside of the machine. But you also need to vacuum the sensors to remove the particulate matter. So we dragged out our Dyson vacuum and attached the small nozzle so we could really ensure a tight closure around the three sensor areas. After that we both crossed our fingers when we turned the machine back on. We were happily surprised that the machine went back to it’s normal settings and the air readings went from purple back to the normal zone. I’m not sure how we would figure these things out without the internet help. I’m just glad it worked. So far the machine has been functioning better. Let’s see how long it lasts.
