Dyson Deep Clean

As with anything mechanical it always requires some sort of routine update or maintenance. It’s no different for the Dyson air purifier/humidifier. And we also have hard water, so the machine needs to be deep cleaned every so often. We got a message that the machine would require a cleaning 36 hours before it was due. You also know you need to do it when the orange light blinks on the machine itself. I learned the hard way that you really need to wait for the machine to blink because it’s the only way to get the cycle going. There is no manual push button if you want to do it yourself. If there is, no one gets back to you on how to do it. We already had to get a new part after the first one failed after just one year. At least the exchange was easy enough and we were lucky to have a Dyson repair shop in our area. So this was the first deep clean we did on the new machine and we needed to get some citric acid first. It’s really not that difficult but it makes me wonder if it really makes any difference. I always get the you tube video so I can watch how to do it correctly. The citric acid water basically sits in the container for an hour. Fresh water is then added and that’s all there is to it. This year I need to remember to empty the water completely from the container when the humidifier function is not being used. I think that’s what clogged up the filter mechanism last time. And there was no amount of citric acid that would fix that.
