National Gallery of Art Artwork

A couple of weeks ago we drove in to town. The idea was the visit the National Gallery of Art for the weekly photo challenge. The theme was “emotion” that week and it seemed like a great setting to find something appropriate. So we walked around looking for subjects that were enthralled with all of the art. In the meantime there are several galleries that we typically look for. And obviously there are so many beautiful works of art to admire. I never really liked visiting art galleries when I was growing up. Even now I’m certainly not an art lover per se. I really don’t know many artists, but I search for what I find looks interesting. Rather than look at the main subject in a piece of art I like looking for the side subject - the other stuff going on in the painting. We have become so familiar with the place that we pretty much know our way around without even thinking about it. It really is a nice option as well as a practical place to have for so many reasons. There are always restrooms, there is a lunch room, it’s great for inclement weather, and then there is the art. Aside from the main building there is the modern art building - which is currently under renovation - and the sculpture garden which is lovely to walk through in any season. Even if you’ve seen something many times there is always something new about it every time we visit.
