Tulips and Cherry Blossoms

They came and went all too quickly. The miserable weather, rainstorms, and wind blew the cherry blossoms away sooner than the normal timeframe. Spring in DC is really beautiful and we were able to see the start of the season along the tidal basin on a very foggy morning. After that we drove by it a couple of times - each time the blossoms were less and less pink. Last week we were at the National Gallery of Art attempting to get some photos for the weekly challenge I belong to. Then we took an extended walk along the National Mall. On our way to the Capitol were several cherry blossoms that were in full bloom. So I was finally able to get some lovely photos for the season like I’ve been doing for the past almost sixteen years. When we reached the US Botanic garden it was the tulips that took center stage. I really love tulips - but my husband doesn’t care for them at all. They are scattered throughout the mall and the garden in all shades of colors. They don’t last very long either so you need to take advantage of the time you have to spend with them. The botanic garden is one of my favorite places. I was so happy to hear that it is finally reopened after over two years. Now we will be able to visit the inside as well as the outdoor gardens. It’s worth the ride in to town any time of the year.
