Water Art and Rainbow

The balcony is the only place we can sit outside without wearing a mask. But when it rains, we put the cushions to the side even though it is covered by the balcony above us. When the rain stops, the cushions go back, and we sit outside. Since it is on the west side of the building, morning and later evening are the best times to relax there in the heat of summer. We brought our patio furniture with us to northern Virginia from our Capitol Hill patio. It’s at least fourteen years old but has held up. We didn’t bring the umbrella because we didn’t think it would fit or be used. The small glass table is good enough to put a drink on, and we have two footstools that can be used for more seating or to put your feet up. We recently added the Blomus ethanol fireplace to the corner - and it looks nice. The other day after the rain I noticed the huge raindrops that were left on the table. Upon closer inspection they took on interesting forms. And then the sun came out and so did the rainbow. I’m sure I would have noticed it anyway, but being stuck inside does change your way of thinking. I often wonder if we knew this virus was going to happen would we have moved here. I can’t answer the question except it probably would have been nicer to sit outside in your own yard with a big dog and fine neighbors like we had before we moved to DC. Each has it’s positive elements, but a lot of it is state of mind. Some days are better than others.
