Weeds Galore

They come in all shapes and sizes. Since they haven’t been attended to over the last several months they are more obvious than ever. The weeds are taking over everywhere, along with the tall grass that hasn’t been cut on the median strips and everywhere else. It is most noticeable when we walk. You may expect them in the park, but not as much along the sidewalks. They spring up out of nowhere, in between cement crevices and almost two feet. Some of them you might even call elegant, but that may be taking it a bit too far. My first impulse is to pluck them out of sight, but there would be no end to it. And judging by the size of most of them, it would be impossible to attempt that feat, given the extensive root system. Just getting them out of a garden is hard enough. So rather than scoff at the live plants around us, it has come time to celebrate all the different varieties of weeds. How many varieties are there anyway? I never gave it a thought before. Now you can’t avoid it.
