Observations, pictures, and sketches highlight the transition of moving to the nations's Capitol after 30 years of living in the Midwest. A clash in cultures? Maybe not!

In Search of Color Images
Yesterday was a delightful day to drive in to DC. I was looking for ideas for “color” images and thought it might be a good place. We went to the same spot last week in search of “negative space” ideas - so it felt like we had just been there because we were. The only difference was that we parked in front of the Smithsonian castle rather than the natural history museum. It ended up not being the best option but beggars can’t be choosers. We started out at the Enid Haupt gardens, then walked down Pennsylvania Avenue towards the African American Museum. We wanted to head over to the White House but it would have been too far. We probably should have walked through our old Capitol Hill neighborhood where the row houses always pop with a variety of shades - especially when the sun is out. Old Town Alexandria would have been another good choice. Unless something stands out between now and Sunday I’ll have to use one of the photos I took for the weekly challenge even though I’m not enamored by any of them. I guess the idea is to submit something every week regardless of how great it is. Or, I can just think that it was a delightful day and a great place to visit.
