Quit Claim Deed

Mom always asked us if we were interested in inheriting the Florida house where we grew up and she still lived until she passed away last year. None of us did. So she wanted to give it to the neighbors who took care of her, and my dad, for several years. Their relationship started out with car rides to different places, helping care for my dad, doctor visits, grocery store runs, pharmacy runs, meal preparation, to many hospital stays and finally live in twenty four hour care for my mom. They became her immediate family and would go out for dinner, celebrate holidays, and share time together. One could not have asked for anything more. The neighbors deserved the gift for all they did for her, and for us since none of us lived in Florida. We never had to worry about things because they were there to help. Mom had papers prepared to sign off on the arrangement, but was never able to complete the documentation. So the house is in probate and the quit claim paperwork needed to be filed as the last step in the transaction. So today we went to Bank of America to have the document signed with a notary. My brother and sister need to do the same and mail the original to the elder law attorney who is handling mom’s estate. Now that it’s done it feels more like closure. I feel really happy for the neighbors, but a little sad at the same time.
