52Frames Pattern Weekly Photo Challenge

I needed to find a pattern. That was the subject of this week’s photo challenge. What came to mind was the dome in the Arts and Industries building on the National Mall. So we drove in to town and found a surprisingly good parking spot. It’s getting more and more crowded every time we drive in these days. These are the times I wish we still lived on Capitol Hill. After spending a bit of time there, we passed through the Enid Haupt gardens by the Smithsonian Castle. There are always options there. The inside of the castle has some remarkable architecture. Heading towards the Capitol the canopy of trees was interesting. The water lilies at the US Botanical garden also looked nice, as did the fountain in the main atrium. Then the health and human services building really fit the bill, but it was quite ugly. I liked the ice cream truck signage a lot and our reflection in the American Indian Museum glass was another option. The Air and Space Museum is closed and under construction - and suggested another type of pattern. Closer to home there were dog prints on the bridge that could have worked. In the end we picked the “pull the curtain” Art that is displayed on the Hirshhorn museum. Every time we walk past it I am entranced. This time the late morning light was showing through the eyes and the repeat pattern of the scaffolding was quite riveting. It certainly wasn’t your typical pattern, but it was very pretty.
