Capitol Hill Alleys, Byways, and Driveways

Some of them are unexpected while others are pretty trashy. Some of them have lovely ironworks and others are strewn with garbage cans and cracked cement. Some are very welcoming; others are just plain ugly. When you walk around our Capitol Hill neighborhood, the alleys, byways, and driveways are all very different. Some of the more interesting ones lead to backyard secret gardens. Then there are long driveways hidden behind fences that have been erected to try and keep everyone out. Nearer to the restaurants you can see service trucks pulling in to replenish necessary wares and goods. They are also filled with dumpsters. The passageways between houses are also used as secret gardens, also closed off by ironworks to maintain a little privacy. Some of the cutest ones have garage doors that you think sit in front of garages, but in reality they are only the front door hiding a slab, or patio behind it. What I wouldn’t give to have my own private parking space! What’s for sure is that they are all uniquely different. It all looks interesting, but not always very practical.
