Tulips Everywhere!

The cherry blossoms are long gone! They appeared about three weeks before the expected schedule and the high winds have blown them all away. But not to worry! It is now time for tulips, and they are everywhere. Down by the tidal basin is the floral library, where a wide variety of the bulbs are planted in specific sections. Walking anywhere on the National Mall, near the Senate Office buildings toward Union Station, the US Botanic Garden, the Capitol Building, the Smithsonian Gardens - the beautiful flowers in all possible colors, shapes, and sizes are everywhere. Thanks goodness they can sustain their appeal even in the coldest of temperatures. It feels like winter around here now after a very mild March. I suppose what makes all these flowers so much more endearing is the fact that they don't last very long. It will be sad to see them go. But we know that they will be replaced by the next batch of whatever happens to be in season. And here in DC, something always is!
