National Gallery of Art West Galleries

When we were in the national Gallery of Art two weeks ago I wanted to take some photos for the 52Frames weekly challenge, but also take images that would be used for this blog. Since there were so many photos, the blog subjects were divided in to a few topics - west building, east building, waterfall and walkway, portraits, sculptures, and galleries. For the challenge I ended up using a great distorted view of two people walking through a gallery in the west building. But there were several more photos from the galleries that looked remarkable - because there weren’t a lot of people in them. In fact, there were rooms that were empty. Having a room to yourself is unheard of. The slow shutter images were interesting. Since the pandemic, we haven’t been able to visit a lot of our favorite places. The museums on the national mall have been slowly opening one by one and the timed passes and reservations have gone by the wayside. So it was a fun excursion to be able to visit. For some reason I get the feeling our ability to visit will be curtailed again. I’m glad we had the chance to get a couple of good weeks in.
