A Tomato Day

We always had vegetables in our garden in Milwaukee and now in our miniature garden in DC. My husband is wild about tomatoes. Whenever we have brunch, he gets a Virgin Bloody Mary. But depending on where you go, the charge is mistaken for a Virgin Mary. It's happened both here and last week in Milwaukee. For the same drink, the price ranges from $2.50 to $8.50. And the size of the glass and the amount of ice is obviously not standardized. Today, he not only had the usual drink, but also tomato soup. After brunch, we drove to the discount wine place in McLean to pick up a few bottles. While there, we picked up a tomato juice mix. That reminded me that the garden really needs a haircut. And there it was- the first almost ripe tomato on the vine. It must have loved the heat of the last few weeks. It will be perfect for a salad in the very near future. As for the overpriced drink at the local Mexican restaurant Tortilla Coast down the street? Because he knows that we live in the neighborhood, the Manager promised "something" the next time we go there. Let's see if "something" ever materializes.
